Film artists have demanded construction of a statue of late actor Sri Krishna Shrestha. Representatives of the organizations associated with the film industry put forth the demand while talking to the journalists on the 13th day ritual of the late actor at his Naya Bazaar residence. "Our demand is that the government should build a statue so that we could remember our actor Sri Krishna," filmmaker Akash Adhikari said.

On the occasion, Minister for Communications and Information Dr Minendra Rijal assured the filmmakers and artists that he would take initiative to build a statue of late Sri Krishna. The film artists wanted the statue be constructed at the Nepal Academy premises. "I will give you my decision regarding the site to erect the statue after coordinating with the Culture Ministry," Dr Rijal said. He also informed that a provision to provide the artists with identity cards was to be introduced soon.
Sri's brother-in-law Chandra Prasad Shrestha said that they would make the statue on their own if the government provided the appropriate land. Chandra Prasad, one of the producers of Kohinoor, the last movie of late Sri, said that he was planning to create a trust in the name of the late actor. Senior filmmaker Nir Shah said that the death of Sri was shocking. "I do not believe our Sri is dead," he said.

Actress Jharna Thapa, actors Rajesh Hamal, Shiva Shrestha Ramesh Uprety, journalist Prakash Subedi, Late Sri's actress wife Sweta, octogenarian mother, actress Karishma Manadhar, Gauri Malla, Deepasri Niraula, S.P. Ramesh Kharel, comedian Deepak Raj Giri and others were present in the condolence meeting.The actor died of bone cancer in "Gangaram Hospital", New Delhi on August 9 this year. Nepal Film Artists Association also organized a condolence meeting to pay their tribute to late Sri.
