A meeting of the Nepal Film Artistes' Association has issued code of conducts for all career actors and actresses of Kollywood. The 37-point code of conducts issued by the Association are divided into four sections under a, b, c and d. The sections include what the film artistes should do and what they should not.

The fourth point under section 'a' reads, "We shall not make films or act in the films which disturb security, peace and law and order in Nepal or hurt the sentiments of different Janajatis, communities and their religious, cultural and social life. Likewise, the seventh point under section 'b' prohibits the film artistes from practicing polygamy, child marriage or unfit marriage and from taking and giving dowry.

The code of conducts approved by the meeting of the working committee of the Association include issues like professional efficiency, discipline, duties of the artistes while signing contract and acting a movie, respect to privacy and solution of problems through dialogues among others. According to the code of practices, the artistes should not resort to any kind of violence. They must not misuse their popularity for financial gains and maintain professional secrecy.

Likewise, the artists should be the role model by not smoking, drinking, gambling and doing illicit works in the public places. They should not involve in illegal activities and they should not resort to any discriminatory activities in their personal and professional life. This is the first time in Nepal that the film artistes have prepared code conducts for themselves.
