From 23rd of Shrawan the movie 'Kohinoor' is being screened across Nepal. At the last stage of the film release, producer/actor Shree Krishna Shrestha had a health problem. He was admitted in a hospital in New Delhi. His newlywed wife actress Sweta Khadka is with him in New Delhi. News page3 talked to writer/director Akash Adhikari who is in the rush for the promotional work and release of 'Kohinoor'.
Shree Krishna and Sweta Khadka are now outside Nepal, how are you managing the promotional works and film release simultaneously alone?Had Shree Krishna Shrestha and Sweta been in Nepal, I shouldn't have faced such type of rush. But as a director I have to accept the challenge and be ready to take the responsibility on my own. I myself had handled all the works from production to the release of the movie 'Kathmandu'. I alone had taken all the responsibilities-- production, direction, acting and film release.
So, to handle the responsibility of 'Kohinoor' is also not a big deal. Shree and Sweta's relatives are also highly supportive. Well wishers and all the cast and crew members are supporting me. With their support, I have a strong belief that 'Kohinoor' will repeat the success of 'Kathmandu' and 'Kaha Bhetiyela'.How did Shree Krishna take ill at the time of the release of his home product? Maybe because of the dust of the shooting period, an allergy was noticed in his neck. He was continuing his treatment in Nepal as well.
When Shree Krishna's health was not that well, I told him that I would take care of all the post-production works of 'Kohinoor'. Practically, I did what I had said. When we reached Mumbai for dubbing, Shreeji for the first time informed me that he was going marry soon. After returning to Nepal, their wedding date was fixed and they tied their nuptial knot. After marriage, he told they would go for honeymoon for ten days, I told him not to worry, go, enjoy, freshen up and return home for the promotion of the movie.
They were planning to go for honeymoon and release the movie in India, Malaysia and Thailand at the same time. But it was very sad to know that Shree's health worsened when they were honymooning. I got the news that after the sudden health problem, they returned to New Delhi and started the treatment. I felt very bad when I heard this. After the recovery of the allergy they were planning to return to Nepal at the time of the film release. We were planning to call a press conference in the presence of both Sweta and Shree. But Shree was further attacked by pneumonia and he was under the treatment in Delhi. Film release date is near. Shree and Sweta's desire was to visit the theatres and watch movie with the audience. But when health didn't support, what could they do?
We are also hearing the rumours that Shree Krishna's sudden health problem were only the 'Kohinoor' 's publicity stunt, what is the truth?
I do not think any producer/director will seek such a cheap popularity. And it is impossible in the case of Shree Krishnaji. He is the one who shows interest in supporting for the promotion of other banners' movies also. 'Kohinoor' is his own banner's movie. I know him very well. To say Shree Krishna Shrestha's health problem was the publicity stunt for 'Kohinoor' is totally wrong.
What type of movie is 'Kohinoor'?
This is purely a family-oriented movie. I also like to call it a musical love story movie. Recently, only a few Nepali movies have been produced which can be watched with whole family members. 'Kohinoor' is among those movies which can be watched sitting together with whole family. When the country couldn't offer job, people are forced to go abroad and they face several difficulties. Kohinoor is all about this problem of Nepalese people. Specially, females are not safe to go for the job abroad. At the time of going abroad females have to bear all the risks ranging from physical abuse and trafficking to others.
How such incident occurs in abroad? What should the state do?
The 'Kohinoor' highlights these problems as well as their solutions. In conclusion, we can say 'Kohinoor' is the story of journey from Nepal to Mumbai and Mumbai to Nepal. In the journey many incidents take place. We can see thriller, suspense, romance and powerful action in the film 'Kohinoor'.
Who is the targeted audience of 'Kohinoor'?
'Kohinoor' is not the movie produced for limited audience. 'Kohinoor' is made for all the castes, regions and age-groups audience. We haven't separated the audience limit as to who can watch the movie and who cannot. Our Nepali society's story is raised as the main subject-matter of the movie. I am confident 'Kohinoor' will meet all the desire of Nepalese audience.
