'National Film Conference' Commenced

Human Rights Film Center has organized 'National Film Conference' for the first time in Nepal. The programme was inaugurated by the president of the Film Development Board Mr Keshav Adhikari on Thursday and will continue for three days.

Speaking on the occasion of the event, Mr Bhattarai explained that a huge revolution has occurred in the Nepali movie industry. He also requested the concerned people to manipulate the 'Film Act (Bidhyak)'.

He also disclosed that he was sure that the conference will include some course of studies for the students interested in studying courses regarding movie making.

The conference is being held at Pragya Prathisthan, Kamaladi, Kathmandu.

Similarly, political science expert Hari Sharma speaking on the event said that the technology has helped a lot to uplift the situation of movies. He added, "from black and white display to colour screens, from stereo sound to digital sound, technology has leaped a long distance." 

According to Sharma, Nepali movies aren't able to represent the voice of the Nepalese society. It's also because the nation has never taken cinema as its responsibility.

The president of Film Directors Society Mrs Suchitra Shrestha added that, "it has been six decades since Nepali movies were made. But we are still failing in some places. We aren't doing deep study in scripts, we aren't sharing our ideas".

Various other personalities such as Lokranjan Parajuli, Anubhav Ajit, Ujjwal Prasai, Samjhana Wagle, Dipendra K Khanal, Somat Ghimire, Dipakraj Giri, Laxmi Bardewa, etc. presented their ideas regarding the present and past situations of  the Nepali movies and what changes can be brought into it.

The conference will be held from Thursday to Saturday.
