Producer/Director Akash Adhikari and his strong team of 15 producers have announced their candidacy for the upcoming election of the Producer’s Association. In an event organized in the capital today amid the presence of various figures from the cine sector and media representatives, the team announced their intentions and their pledges for the election to be held on 2^nd of Poush.

Adhikari, who is leading the team and is vying for the post of president, revealed and introduced the team members from his panel to those present at the function. Beside Mr. Adhikari, the panel will have 14 other producers looking to secure selection at various posts.

Chabi Raj Ojha is the candidate for the post of General Secretary while Sushil Pokharel is standing for election in the treasurer’s post. Meanwhile, Govinda Shahi is the candidate for the post of Secretary.

The member candidates include Karishma Manandhar, Deepak Raj Giri, Dipendra K Khanal, Nischal Basnet, Nikita Poudel, Yogesh Ghimire, Bhanu Pratap, Raunak Bikram Kandel and Chetan Sapkota.

The candidate for the post of vice-president has not been announced as of now and will be announced later after some internal discussions, said Mr. Adhikari.

Speaking at the program, candidate Adhikari highlighted the need for the Producer’s Association to be much more active than it is now and said it is because of this main reason that he himself has come forward with this candidacy.

‘We will definitely make sure that scientific systems like the Box Office will be brought into effect for the transparency in film business. If we are to be elected, we will also focus on many challenges facing our industry like piracy, shooting difficulties, censor hassle and others’, said the presidential candidate.

‘We will make this association active and successful again’, said the confident looking producer.

Other candidates like Deepak Raj Giri and Nischal Basnet also focused on the issues of Box Office, along with the issues of minimum return to Producers and the problems they face during filmmaking. They vowed to fight for the rights and protection of the Producers together.

Speaking at the function, many guests, including the President of the Film Development Corporation, Rajkumar Rai, wished their best regards to the team for the upcoming election.
