Child actor Kareena Khatri, the winner of the Best Acting Award at the 6th children Drama festival, lost her life in the April 25th 2015 massive earthquake of 7.8 magnitude. Child actor Kareena Khatri, the winner of the Best Acting Award at the 6th children Drama festival, lost her life in the April 25th 2015 massive earthquake of 7.8 magnitude. According to Aryan Neupane, coordinator of Shailee Theatre, Khatri lost her life on April 25th after her house collapsed. 

Along with Khatri, her mother and brother also succumbed to the collapse caused by the earthquake. Neupane informed though, “We only hear this sad news only after 13th days”. Twelve year old Khatri was studying at Charumati English School, chabahil in class VI. And for the extraordinary performance in the play “Baimaani Kaal” during the festival, she was bestowed the award. Recalling Khatri’s performance during the festival Neupane said, “She was very talented and had potential to be an actor. And she told me that she wanted to use the award money for her studies.”

“The demise of Khatri is a loss to Nepali Theatre. She had a great potential to be an actor”, a press statement released by Shailee Theatre quoted its director Nawaraj Budathoki as saying.
