Rekha Thapa: “I won’t Undervalue Documentary Movies”

Actress Rekha Thapa has said many times in a discussion, “We need to make an entertainment movie for our audience’s not documentary film”. Actress Rekha Thapa does not support documentary movie, she is against it. Currently, Producer/Director/Actor Rekhna Thapa has targeted director who has different perception and has now assessed herself as a documentary maker and has aforementioned not to undervalue documentary movies. 

“Nepal International Sports Film Festival 2015” was organized in Kathmandu while actress Producer/Director/Actor Rekha Thapa was a special guest in the program. For the first time, she has participated in any international film festival and expressed, “I did not believe documentary film would be worthy to watch but I was wrong. I used to accuse that Nepali film has turn out to be a documentary movie. But, now onwards I won’t undervalue documentary movies. Today, I have watched a very good documentary movie that I did not expected.”

 
Nepal Sports Foundation has organized a program “Nepal International Sports Film Festival 2015” and appointed Actress Rekha Thapa and the former captain of Nepal football team Hari Khadka as a chief guest. They both inaugurated the documentary movie “Hari Bahadur” based on the life story of an athlete Hari Bahadur Rokaya. The documentary film is directed by TS Thakuri and Jain Shah while the duration of the documentary movie is 40 minutes. Similarly another movie “Team Nepal” was displayed in the film festival which is directed by Girish Giri. 

 
After watching the two films related to sports in film festival she said the real hero of our societies are athletes. Rekha had learned karate during her school time and said, “The real hero of our country is athletes. And we artist are only society representative character. Film “Ram-Pyari” is presented under the banner of Rekha films produced by Sabir Shrestha. Rekha Thapa has expressed that in future she would love to produce films based on sports. 

 
“Nepal International Sports Film Festival 2015” is going to display seven documentary movies. In the second day of the international festival they are going to display six documentary movies related to sports. This “Nepal International Sports Film Festival 2015” has been organized for the first time in Nepal. The festival also envisions establishing a tradition of film festivals completely dedicated to sports which is the combination of art, passion, entertainment and excitement. The Festival will be held from 11 AM to 5 PM on February 27 and 28 at NTB. Entry is free for all, on first-come-first-served basis.
