RIP APJ Abdul Kalam: On Twitter, Bollywood Mourns Former President

The tragic demise of India's 11th President APJ Abdul Kalam has left many in grief including Bollywood actors. Celebrities including Lata Mangeshkar, Shah Rukh Khan and A R Rahman mourned the demise of the former President, referring to his death as a great loss to the country.Dr Kalam, also known as the 'People's President', served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. He died on July 27 at a hospital in Meghalaya, where he had gone to deliver a lecture. He was 83.

The news of his death has broken hearts all over Bollywood. Many celebrities paid tribute to the former President on social media.

Amitabh Bachchan tweeted:
"T 1943 - A brilliant mind, a child like demeanour, simple caring and loved by all .. ex POI passes away .. PRAYERS." 

Shah Rukh Khan paid his last respects to Dr Kalam and also condemned the Gurdaspur terrorist attack: 
"So sad to hear about the Gurdaspur terror attack & now the news of Dr. Kalam's demise. May Allah bring peace upon all."

Salman Khan mentioned that he should have made an effort to meet Dr Kalam:
"when ur heart says you should meet someone, don't delay. i always wanted to meet Kalam saab and i should have made the effort . my loss."

Ajay Devgan tweeted:
"Sad to hear about the loss of our only peoples president - Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Big loss to not just our nation but the whole world."

Farah Akhtar tweeted:
"Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of one of the most inspirational Indians of our time, former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. RIP."

Priyanka Chopra tweeted:
"They say Good & Great r seldom in the same man. Dr Kalam was the epitome of both.A big loss for India. May his beautiful soul Rest in Peace."

Sonakshi Sinha tweeted:

Veteran actor Anupam Kher, who had received his Padma Shri from Dr Kalam, expressed his grief in a series of tweets:

So sad to know about d passing away of Dr. Abdul Kalam. It is a loss not only for India but for d entire world. Such greatness is a rarity.

Had the opportunity of meeting & interacting with Dr. Kalam at several occasions. His infectious smile was enough to inspire millions. #Sad
