Nepal government has selected the president of the Nepal Film Producer association to head Film Development Board (FDB), the government regulatory body of Nepali movies. He has been appointed as a chief director of the Nepal Film Development Board for two years. The government took a few months to decide on the new leader after the end of the tenure of previous chief, Dharmendra Kumar Marbaita.

 There were many candidates who were selected for the head position of the Film Development Board but Communication and Information Minister Dr. Minendra Rijal appointed Raj Kumar Rai for that particular position.  Raj Kumar was appointed by the cabinet meeting held on Friday, June 5.After the appointment Rai has thanked the government and expressed his happiness to online Magazine Newspage3.com that he will work in the betterment of the entire film industry.  In conversation with Editor Utsav Rasaili he said, “If anybody brings out anything best for our film development board then I won’t delay that work”. Previously, he has worked as member of Nepal Film Development Board. Because of the massive earthquake the new chairman Raj Kumar Rai has decided to halt the registration process of the films.

Raj Kumar Rai is the prominent person who has worked for two decades in Nepal Film Industry. He has invested in more than fifty films and has produced 10 movies from his own banners “R.C. Pictures”. “Papi Manche” and “Papi Manche-2” is the hit movies from his banner and movie “One-Way” which was released last year.  


After the announcement of chairman of Nepal film development board Raj Kumar Rai many media personalities and filmmakers went to R.C. pictures production house to congratulate him.
